Honest pet treatment starts with finding out how far a spot has gone, which sometimes means pulling carpet back to check the pad rather than guessing. In light or fresh cases, treating the carpet and pad in place is enough. In bad, repeated, or old spots, the pad in that area needs to be replaced rather than treated — that is still a cleaning-side job. Anything beyond that, like re-stretching or replacing the carpet itself, is flooring work, and you will be told plainly when a spot has crossed that line.
